Inventive, inspired, craft beer for discerning beer drinkers – that’s what we make. We’re lucky to live in a time of greater appreciation for artisanal products – both food and beer. For us, inspiration comes in the form of raw ingredients, brewing process and flavor. Like our suppliers and partners such as Taza Chocolate in Somerville, we share an enthusiasm for creating culinary unique products. All our beers are an expression of quality ingredients, intended for everyday people who enjoy flavorful beer or pairing with great food.
Slumbrew is the brand for Somerville Brewing Company’s beer. Our story began nearly 15 years ago as our founders Caitlin Jewell and Jeff Leiter traveled around the country (and the world) trying to understand a renaissance in brewing that is now described as craft beer. With over 10 years as an avid home brewer, and construction of a small 350 square foot nano-brewery in Somerville, MA for recipe creation, Caitlin and Jeff set out in 2011 to make their beers available in Massachusetts. Presently, we're producing our beers out of Mercury Brewing Company in Ipswich, MA and are in the planning phases of a project to open a small brewery and tap room in Somerville, MA.
Slumbrew has recently added a 6th state Virginia, to its existing distribution in MA, VT, ME, IL and LA. In early 2012, two of our beer styles were promoted as Best Beers of New England by Boston Magazine with Slumbrew Porter Square Porter taking the #1 spot for Best Porter.
