2013 Slumbrew Charities One Brick and Mike McNeil Org

If feels like everyone is asking for cash for their 5ks and you’re fed up, perhaps you’d like to volunteer some time instead with us? We’d like your company and help. Let’s get grubby. Here is our big announcement for January…

Mike McNeil (with hat!)We have selected TWO charities for 2013. For the second year we have selected The Mike McNeil Organization. Mike (Caitlin and Chris’s cousin) was a joy-filled UMASS guy in his early 20s that lost a life long battle with cancer. If you like Slumbrew you would have loved Mike.Mike McNeil Org Team

MMO raises funds through wildly fun events like the “MMO Crawl for the Cure.” Please Like MMO on Facebook. By God we’re going to work harder to drink cancer away in 2013.

Our second selected Somerville Brewing Company (aka "Slumbrew") charity is One Brick Boston. In my words (not theirs)- One Brick takes all the goodie-goodie, creepy awkwardness and difficulty out of volunteerism so you can get out there and do it. One Brick sets up all types volunteering opportunities. By agreeing to be a One Brick volunteer you can find out what these are and join in with what fits your personality, time, schedule and interests. It’s a growing network of young professionals who want to do more with their time than sports clubs or the elliptical at the gym. You can do as little as a few hours. (Resume builder anyone?)

Every month our team and Slumbassadors will be at the One Brick Boston Socials to offer samples, raffle swag and make it fun for guests to swing by for a pint and to learn more about One Brick. The amazing Boston Beer Bar Kinsale is generously supporting us with a space to party with One Brick EVERY third Tuesday of the month in 2013 and donating some food to go with your after-work pints. Their location is ideal at Government Center. VIP –There’s no commitment, pay as you go and maybe win a nice tee or prize. In the summer we’ll even be out on the patio.

The Slumbassador nation and fans are also going to get grubby and volunteer for One Brick Boston. We’re waiting for our assignment, but in April we’re going to do our service event, followed by pints, of course. We’d like you to join us and we’ll let you know what our task is and the date when we know.

One Brick Boston VolunteersSo if you’ve decided you should so some good in 2013, perhaps you’ll join us at a One Brick Social just to learn more and get on their mailing list. Please invite some friends to come along. “Hey let’s get a pint on Tuesday January 15th at Kinsale, ok?”

Slainte! Caitlin
