Slumbrew is a concept for creating innovative and experimental beers, whereby some of the best recipe formulations are contract brewed by production breweries for commercial release. Most of the beers produced for public consumption are bottled in 22oz bombers, though we are looking at options for canning our beer as an environmentally-responsible replacement to glass containers. The beers are also available in draft kegs for select accounts around regions our distributor serves.

The Brewlab is located in Somerville, MA and consists of a custom nano-scale (non-commercial) brewery inside a small 350 square foot building. It is very efficient! This facility is not for the production of commercially available beer as it is only used for generating recipe concepts that are then scaled up to commercial production sizes. However, we make a variety of beer styles and try to push the boundaries of how different ingredients can influence traditional preconceptions. The result of this recipe experimentation does not always seamlessly scale up to production sizes. The other half of the Slumbrew challenge is to commercially produce beers reflecting ingenuity from the formulation phase while balancing financial and pragmatic considerations of commercial production. In all cases, we strive to produce great craft beers that are the result of imagination and non-traditional approaches toward style guidelines.
Slumbrew has a wonderful community of supporters around the Somerville/Cambridge/Boston area. Many homebrewers have brewed their own creations in the Lab or shared the final results at monthly meetups. We also have had guest brewers from the area’s emerging nano and small-scale breweries for test batches of future commercial beers.
