Frequently asked questions

Is the taproom 21+?
Guests under 21 may come in the taproom. We do Point of Sale I.D. which means you may be asked for your I.D. each time you order a beer. Guests under 21 will not be served alcohol. We have nice lemonade. Anyone slipping a beer to an underage guest will be immediately ejected. Sunday night the Liquid Courage Comedy Club show is strictly 21+.

Can I bring my kids/doublewide stroller/bag of 1000 Cheerios?
We don’t prohibit children from the taproom, BUT there are no amenities to keep them happy other than cheese pizza. The taproom is bright and sunny, but there is no room to run or play and the music is usually at a grown-up volume. There are no highchairs. You may bring in a single-wide stroller, but please leave the double stroller outside. Play-dough is strictly prohibited. We have a new dart board set up. Grownups will be throwing sharp objects. You must be 18 to play darts. There IS a baby changing table in our restroom. You may use a clip on seat on our very heavy wood tables. You may not clip it to the bar. Baby wearing is awesome. Breastfeeding is awesome. Feel free to Contact Us with ANY questions before you visit.

Do you have Growlers?
64 and 32 oz growlers are available on select beers. We’re trying to get rid of the last growler bottles so we are not charging the $5 deposit! After that they make delightful flower vases.

What is the deal with your parking?
Everyday after 5 PM, ALL day Saturday and ALL day Sunday the entire lot is available for us to use. (There are numbers and names on the spaces for our neighboring daytime office workers.) Thursday and Friday 11AM-5PM is a bit of a challenge because we don’t have spots for you. There are 2-hour spots on Horace street right behind the brewery.

If you feel over-served PLEASE do not drive. We will make sure your car is not towed and we will be grateful that you made a good decision to get home safe. Ask any bartender before you leave.

Do you offer tours? We heard you had tours every Saturday.
With the massive proliferation of small breweries, we’re guessing you’ve been on a brewery tour. Lately we offer tours by appointment and frequently as a private and impromptu tour with our brewers or owners. If you have a group event you can schedule a tour and group photo. Very often you’ll see City Brew Tours Boston in our brewery. We highly, highly, highly 5-stars recommend these guys. They have unprecedented access to breweries that you’d only see with them. If their tour guides are going into our brewery area please ask to join them! Their guides are knowledgeable about who Somerville Brewing is, how beer is made and the Boston beer scene in general. They’re also really funny.

Our sun-lit building is an old warehouse with twenty-four foot high ceilings. It is delightfully cool and air-conditioned all summer and cozy warm in the winter. It is really fun to hear the rain on our large flat warehouse ceiling and watch the snow fall in the winter. We do not have outdoor seating and we do have food, so pets are not allowed inside.

Can I bring a cake?
Host your birthday, engagement party, anniversary, proposal, company outing, Octoberfest, training seminar, offsite, fantasy football draft or fundraiser at Somerville Brewing Company! We have affordable packages and options to make your event wonderful. We don’t have the freezer space for an ice cream cake. You may bring a cake if you bring paper plates and napkins. The staff would also like to say they like cake very much and would appreciate 1-3 leftover slices. Please be advised: Somerville Brewing reserves the right to eat your your leftover and forgotten cake if you leave it behind in our walk-in after your event. Brewers love cold leftover cake.
